Clifford, Mary Scofield.
Mary Scofield Clifford was raised in Davidson and Mt. Mourne, N.C. Her father, John N. Scofield, was the contractor for the building of Old Chambers. Her mother later ran a boarding house for students and had Woodrow Wilson as one of her boarders. Clifford was tutored by Davidson faculty and attended the Lincolnton Female Seminary.
