William E. Koch was a professor of English and folklore at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Riley County. He was the president of the Kansas Folklore Society, performed folk songs before clubs and college groups, and published several articles on central plains life and folklore. He is the editor of Folklore from Kansas: customs, beliefs, and superstitions, published in 1980.
