Playwright, poet, and actor Lawrence S. Pertillar was associated with the Frank Silvera Writers Workshop in New York City.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Lawrence has achieved success in several creative fields: acting, singing, and writing. He produced, directed and starred in "The Leonard Melvin show," in Springfield, Massachusetts. He appeared on Broadway in the play, "My Sister," written by Ray Ahrana. His one-man show, "Mind prints from untouched places," a performance art piece, incorporated 20 poems and original music. He was selected as "One of America's Most Distinguished Poets" by the International Society of Poets, and his poetry is consistently chosen to appear in "The best of..." anthologies.
