Adams was born on May 28, 1919 in Sodus, NY; was a fellow at the Univ. of Rochester, 1941-42, receiving his Ph. D in 1943; intern, Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, 1944; asst. medical resident, 1944-45, resident fellow, 1946-47, and instructor, 1947-48, Univ. of Rochester; served in the medical corps of the US Naval Reserve, 1945-46, and as a consultant to the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission; resident, 1948-49, administration section chief, asst. resident and physician full grade, 1949-50, Veterans Administration Center Hospital, Los Angeles; asst. clinical professor, 1948-49, asst. professor, 1949-52, associate professor, and in 1952, professor of the UCLA School of Medicine; vice-chairman of the Dept. of Medicine, 1967.
