Stephen Williams (1693-1782) and Warham Williams (1699-1751) were born in Deerfield, Mass., the sons of Rev. John and Eunice Mather Williams. In 1704, they were captured by Indians and taken to Canada. Rescued after a year, they returned to Massachusetts and both graduated from Harvard College, Stephen in 1713 and Warham in 1719. Stephen taught school in Hadley, Mass., until November of 1714 when he settled as minister in Longmeadow, Mass., where he remained until his death. Warham served as the first minister in Waltham, Mass., from 1723 until his death.
