Disney, John, 1745-1816.
Unitarian clergyman and antiquary. Disney was vicar of Swinderby in Lincolnshire, but in 1782 threw up his preferments and joined the Unitarians. From 1806 Disney resided at the estate he inherited from the prominent dissenter Thomas Brand Hollis (the Hyde at Ingatestone in Essex). He published numerous sermons and pursued antiquarian interests. Disney also provided a preface for the 1811 edition of Michael Dodson's Life of Sir Michael Foster and saw it through the press with Nichols and Son of London.
