Daniel Francis Callahan (b. 1910, Zenda, Kan.-d. June 10, 2001), U.S. Air Force officer, graduated from West Point in 1931, was awarded his wings in 1932, and began service with the 25th Bomb Squadron in the Panama Canal Zone. He trained in engineering and logistics, and in 1941 then-Major Callahan became Air Engineering Officer of the U.S. Military Mission in North Africa, later assuming command of the 5309th Air Service Command in the China-Burma-India Theatre. After the War, he held positions with the Strategic Air Command and with the Logistics Plans Group in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Materiel at U.S. Air Force Headquarters. In the early 1950s General Callahan worked at NATO in London, followed by his assignment as chief of the Military Assistance Advisory Group in the United Kingdom. Returning to Washington Headquarters in 1953, he held various positions before becoming commander, Mobile Air Material Area in 1957. He retired in June 1963.
