Vivian Humphrey Hewer was born on May 31, 1908 in Deerwood, Minnesota. She earned her B.S. in 1929, her M.S. in 1941 and her Ph.D. in 1954, all awarded by the University of Minnesota. Dr. Hewer joined the staff at the University of Minnesota in 1947 as an instructor and student personnel worker in the Student Counseling Bureau (now University Counseling and Consulting Services). She was promoted to assistant professor of psychology in 1954, associate professor in 1959 and professor in 1963. Her area of research was in vocational aptitudes and she consulted for the North Central Association of College and Secondary Schools, the Veterans Administration and the American Personnel and Guidance Association. Dr. Hewer retired from the University of Minnesota in 1973. Vivian Hewer died on May 10, 1999.
