The Board of Student Publications was created in 1933 to assume functions of Faculty Committee on Student Publications. The board consisted of 3 faculty members appointed by the University President and 3 students elected by the student body. The head of the Journalism Dept. served as chair. The publications board was abolished in the early 1970s.

The University of Florida Board of Student Publications was created in 1933 to exercise the supervisory functions of the Faculty Committee on Student Publications. Unlike its predecessor, the board also included student representatives. Membership consisted of three faculty members appointed by the President and three students elected by the student body. The head of the Journalism Department served as chair and voted only to break a tie. In the 1950s, an electoral board was created consisting of the members of the publication board, the Honor Court Chancellor, and the Student Body President. The electoral board was given the responsibility for selecting the officers of the publications supported with student fees. The publications board was abolished in the early 1970s.
