The Edward Sheldon Memorial was organized by Sheldon's family and friends. Marion Meigs Hyde Woods was Brooks's primary correspondent in relation to the memorial. In relation to the Edward Sheldon Memorial Room at the Harvard Houghton Library, Brooks's correpondent was Harvard librarian K. D. Metcalf.
