Groome family.
Peregrine William Groome (1794-1870), his daughter Maria Elizabeth Groome (1820-1875), and his uncle Samuel Groome (1777-1928) are identified in Harry Connelly Groome's The Groome family and connections (Philadelphia: Press of J. B. Lippincott Company, 1907) as descendants of the Groome family of Maryland, originally of Middlesex, England, and first prominent in New England among traders and merchants in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Daniel Groome (1758-1805) and Martha Gibbons (1767-1797), Peregrine's parents, were landowners in Kent County, Maryland.
