In 1556-1557, Sir John Port of Etwall endowed a grammar school at Repton and an almshouse at Etwall, Derbyshire. The Repton School, founded on the site of the old Augustinian priory in Derbyshire is now an independent co-educational boarding school. The almshouse, known as Etwall Hospital was incorporated in 1622, and expanded and rebuilt in 1681.
