Physician, of Plainfield, N.J.; was the son of the Rev. Joseph F. Berg (1812-1871), a minister of the Dutch Reformed Church; entered Rutgers College, New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1859 with the class of 1863, but did not graduate; attended Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia; served as assistant surgeon, 28th Regiment, New Jersey Volunteers, September 1862-July 1863.
