French Lick Springs Hotel
In the 1830's Dr. Thomas Bowles purchased land surrounding the largest mineral springs near French Lick, Orange County, Ind.; his son built a hotel there. In 1883 French Lick citizens bought the hotel, and it was later purchased by Indianapolis mayor Thomas Taggart, who added new buildings and a golf course. In 1946 it was sold to a New York syndicate and operates today as the French Lick Springs Resort.
