John Russell Jacks, Sr., was employed by Southern Railway and Western Union. He lived in Dothan, Ala., 1962-1995, where he was a member of First Methodist Church and a founding member of the Wiregrass Society for Railway History (WHRS) in 1967. Jacks was also a Kiwanis member and member of the National Rose Society. After leaving Dothan, he moved to Birmingham, Ala. He is interred in Barnesville, Ga.
