Kendall S. Young (b. 1920, Baltimore, Md.), U.S. Air Force officer, received his commission in the Infantry in 1941, and completed pilot training and transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces the following year. During World War II he saw combat in North Africa and Italy, commanding the 727th Bombardment Squadron, 451st Bombardment Group, before his release from active duty in 1945. Returning to duty in 1951, he was assigned to Air Force HQ, and later became chief of the Policy Division, Air Force HQ in Europe (1955-1958). Returning to Germany in 1965, he was appointed director of plans, Air Force HQ in Europe, then assumed command of the 7101st Air Base Wing there. In 1967 he became commander, 66th Tactical Reconnaissance Wing, in England. He was transferred to Vietnam in 1969 as chief of the Air Force Advisory Group, U.S. Military Assistance Command Vietnam. In 1971 he again returned to U.S. Air Forces in Europe as deputy chief of staff for plans, and in 1973 was assigned to Oslo, Norway as the air deputy, Allied Forces Northern Europe. General Young retired in 1975.
