Born in Kansas in 1916; after receiving a B.A. from the University of Wyoming in 1938, he became the owner, publisher, and editor of the Chugwater (WY) News; in 1942 he left Chugwater and, working around military service, was employed as the editor of the Northern Wyoming Daily News in Worland, and at the Rawlins Daily Times; he served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, in public relations for the 97th Infantry Division, and as managing editor for the Pacific Stars and Stripes; he began working for the Wyoming Eagle (Cheyenne) as assistant news editor in 1949, and worked his way up to editor in 1962; Horton died in 1994.
