Cohen, James.
Mr. Cohen was born in rural Forrest County, Mississippi in 1920. Although poor, his widowed mother helped him attend college after he graduated valedictorian from DePriest High School in Palmer's Crossing. He earned his pharmacy degree from Xavier University in New Orleans and returned to Hattiesburg in 1953. Mr. Cohen has been active in the Boy Scouts, the NAACP, and the Head Start Program.
