Marvin Tannenberg was born in Brooklyn in 1928. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he attended the School of Visual Arts. Under the name Tann, his gag cartoons were published in numerous magazines including Saturday evening post, Collier's, Look, Ladies home journal, Playboy and Saturday review. He was a founding member of the Magazine Cartoonists Guild (later known as Cartoonists Guild) and served as its first president. Marvin Tannenberg died October 12, 2005 in Manhattan.
