The Reverend Pedersen was an early missionary in Alaska. He first served the Methodist Episcopal Church in Douglas, Alaska, from 1905 until 1906 when he was appointed to establish a church in Seward. He conducted services in Seward in a 20 x 30 foot tent and lived in the back until the church was built. From Seward he went to Skagway. His name is associated with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Skagway in the 1911-1912 Polk's Alaska Yukon Gazetteer and with the First Presbyterian Church of Skagway in the 1917-18 edition. Reverend Pedersen was also a photographer and produced many postcards of the Skagway area. A number of his photographs appear on commercial postcards published by various firms.
