Counihan, Noel, 1913-
Variant namesPainter, cartoonist, illustrator & writer. Born in Melbourne, Counihan was an artist noted for his social-realist style & radical outlook, whose work has been widely exhibited in Australia & overseas. An active member of the Communist Party, Counihan was also a foundation member of the Print Council of Australia, & served as the latters president between 1973 & 1978.
