Robertson, William, d. 1806

A brother of Samuel and David Robertson and a native of Scotland, William Robertson came to Detroit in 1782 as a clerk of John Askin. Within a few years he had become a leader in the Canadian fur trade. On Jan. 26, 1978, he married Cornelia Eleanor Brooks (first); and (second) Mrs. Ogilvie from whom he was divorced. After 1792 most of his life was spent in Lower Canada or England. William Robertson died in London, England in December 1806.
