Patrick Quill was born in County Kerry, Ireland. He entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus in 1870. Quill taught at five Jesuit colleges over the course of twenty years: St. Peter's College; Boston College; Fordham; Loyola College; Georgetown College; and St. Joseph's College. He taught at Boston College in 1892-93.
Joseph F. O'Connell was a graduate of Boston College (1893) and Harvard Law (1896). O'Connell was a Boston lawyer, manager of a charitable endowment, and United States Representative (1906-1910).
