She graduated from Dickinson State College (1935), taught school for two years, and married Gilman F. Peterson (1937). They had 5 daughters and owned Flag Staff Farms near South Heart, N.D. She was a journalist for southwestern N.D. newspapers (1949-1985) and active in local, state, and national Democratic-NPL politics. She moved to Couer d'Alene, Idaho in 1986 and died on May 2, 2000.
