Marion Eleanor Zimmer Bradley (1930-1999) was an American author of fantasy novels including; the "The Mists of Avalon" and the "Darkover" series.

Marion Bradley, musician and writer, was born in Albany, New York and educated at York State College for Teachers (now SUNY). She later did graduate work at the Univ. of California (Berkeley). Bradley began writing in the 1950's and her first novel, Songs from Rivendall was privately published in 1959. During the 1960's she concentrated on science fiction, writing The door through space (1961) was published by Ace Books. Since then she has published over 36 novels and stories.
Bradley is known for the Darkover Series, which chronicles the saga between explorer from earth and the planet Darkover, spanning more than 2,000 years. The series has developed cult status.
