Steen family.

Hide Profile

Family papers of the multimillionaire prospector, Charles A. Steen who in 1952 discovered and developed the Mi Vida Mine from a massive, relatively highly-enriched uranium deposit in the Big Indian Wash of Lisbon Valley, southeast of Moab, Utah. Steen made millions for his efforts, and his discovery provoked a "Uranium Rush" of prospectors into the Four Corners region, similar to the Gold Rush of the 1850s in California. The market price for high grade uranium ore plumited at the end of the 1950's and Charles A. Steen was forced to declare bankruptcy in 1968.
