Cherry, Jim D., 1911-1980
Variant namesJim D. Cherry, nationally known educator, was superintendent of the DeKalb County, Georgia, school system for twenty-five years; led the school system through its period of initial integration; and was instrumental in the development of the Fernbank Science Center in cooperation with the school system. He retired in 1972 and died in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1980.
