Brush family.
Pioneer family of Ottawa, Illinois. Henry Lyman Brush (1809-1884) emigrated from Vermont to Galena, Illinois in 1831 and later settled in Ottawa, becoming a fruit and flower grower. Brush's sons Charles (1838-1910) and William (1841-1863) both served in the Civil War, Charles in the 53rd Illinois Infantry and William in the 104th Illinois Infantry.
Charles became a lawyer in Ottawa after the war, until 1880 when he moved to Minnesota and became a farmer, and William died of disease at Camp Douglas in 1863.
