Hide Profile

Vermont SOS was part of a national project of the National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, and the National Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Property. Locally, the project was sponsored by the Vermont Museum and Gallery Alliance (VMGA).

The goals of SOS were twofold: to raise awareness about the need to provide care for outdoor sculpture, and to train volunteers to locate and document every outdoor sculpture in the nation. The original survey forms were sent to the National Museum of American Art for entry into a database called the Inventory of American Sculpture.
