St 1886, c 276, s 7 provided that the Commissioners of Inland fisheries "shall be game commissioners also." RL 1902, c 91, s 2 designated them as the Board of Commissioners on Fisheries and Game. St 1919, c 350, s 39 abolished the board, replacing it with the Division of Fisheries and Game in the Department of Conservation. St 1953, c 631 placed the division within the Department of Natural Resources but under control of the fish and Game Board. St 1974, c 806, ss 1, 26 (also St 1975, c 706, s 56) replaced the division with the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife (under the Fisheries and Wildlife Board) in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Recreational Vehicles, redesignated by St 1985, c 231, s 11 as the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Environmental Law Enforcement.
