Public Relations, a department of the Division of Institutional Advancement, is the University's official media relations and marketing unit for both internal and external communication. It is chiefly responsible for creating and collecting materials, accomplished through newspaper and magazine stories, TV talk shows, radio programs, special events, advertising, web pages, electronic newsletters, brochures, posters and photography. Public Relations encompasses the sub-units of Media Relations and Events, University Marketing and Publications, and Development Communications.
UNF newspaper clippings and press releases were initially produced by various offices in the Division of Public Relations, and its successor, the Division of University Relations. The latter Division was renamed in 1995 the Division of Institutional Advancement.
Under Institutional Advancement, the Office of News and Publications produced and/or disseminated the UNF newsclippings and press releases from 1998-2003; 2004-2005 by University Marketing & Publications; and 2005- by the Dept. of Media Relations and Events. The University utilized a professional newsclipping service in later years.
