New Bedford Institute of Technology
The New Bedford Textile School was founded in 1895 to provide instruction in the art of textile manufacturing. After WWII the school began to offer degrees in engineering, chemistry and business administration. In 1960 the school merged with Bradford Durfee Institute of Technology to form Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, and the joint North Dartmouth campus opened in 1964.
