Philip Dalton graduated from Cornell University in 1924. His parents, William Dalton and Ida May Hill were members of the Cornell Class of 1890. He was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Field Artillery, 1924; received a M.S. from Princeton in 1925; and was commissioned as a naval aviator in 1931. He was killed in a training flight in 1941. During the 1930s he designed and patented aerial navigational equipment including the Dalton Dead Reckoning Computer E6-B.
