George Harold Powell (1872-1922)received B.S. and M.S. degrees in agriculture from Cornell University in 1895 and 1896, and worked as the pomologist in charge of fruit storage and transportation investigations for the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1904-1906. In 1911 he served as secretary and manager of the Citrus Protective League of California and from 1912-1922 was general manager of the California Fruit Growers Exchange (later Sunkist Growers, Inc.). In addition to various articles on the fruit industry, Powell was the author of the book Co-operation in agriculture (1913).
