Charles Henry Parry was born in 1779 at Bath, the eldest son of the eminent physician, Caleb Hillier Parry, and brother to the Arctic explorer, William Edward Parry. He studied medicine at Gottingen and Edinburgh University, graduating in 1804, and was elected a fellow of the Royal Society in 1812. He later established a medical practice in Bath, where he was physician to the General Hospital from 1818 to 1822. Retiring early from practice, he settled in Brighton, where he died on 21 January 1860.
