Harbert, William S. (William Soesbe), 1842-1919.
Harbert was a lawyer and philanthropist and a native of Terre Haute, Ind. He attended Wabash College and Indiana University Law School and received his law degree from the University of Michigan. He served during the Civil War with the 85th Indiana Volunteers. From 1867 to 1872 he practiced law in Des Moines, Iowa and in Chicago from 1872 until his retirement.
