C. Waitman Taylor, Jr. is a 76-year-old businessman and civic leader who worked in various capacities at General Electric and Texas Gas in Owensboro, Ky. For many years, he has been active as a promoter of industrial development in Owensboro and Daviess County, and neighboring Hancock County, Ky., where he was born and reared. He has served on many corporate, college and nonprofit boards throughout his career. He has served as an Owensboro City Commissioner and as Mayor of Owensboro. He is currently executive director of the Foundation for Health at Owensboro Mercy Health System. He is the son of Adelaide Longest Taylor and C. Waitman Taylor, Sr.; was married to the late Margaret Brannon Taylor of Owensboro, who together were the parents of four children; and is now married to Patricia Miller Weihe Taylor. Cloran Waitman Taylor, Jr. was born September 18, 1927 at the home of his grandparents Sally Beauchamp Longest and William Powell Longest on the Ohio River in Hancock County, Ky., a farm that was very special to him in his childhood. In the early 1960s, he purchased from a cousin his great-great grandfather Robert Costin Beauchamp's home and farm on U.S. 60 in Hancock County and this ancestral home continues to be an important part of his and his family's life.
