Constantine Zakhartchenko (1900- ) was an aeronautical engineer during the twentieth century. A native of Lublin, Poland, Zakhartchenko immigrated to the United States in 1922 and worked for numerous American aviation companies and federal agencies between the 1920s and 1960s, including McDonnell Aircraft Corporation (1943-1948) and the National Bureau of Standards (1949-1956). In the course of his engineering career, he was involved in the design and development of numerous aircraft, aircraft components, and missiles, including the jet engine afterburner, the McDonnell XHJD-1 twin engine helipcopter, and the XAUM-N-Z cruise missile. He received the U.S. Navy Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 1956.
