Biddle, William S.

William S. Biddle was a United States Army officer who was an aide of diplomat Frank McCoy and served with the Lytton Commission investigating the Manchurian Incident of 1931. He also served in World War II in the North African campaigns and the European Theater of Operations and was senior advisor to the Japanese Self-Defence Force, Korean Armistice Commission.

William S. Biddle was a United States (U.S.) Army officer who was an aide of diplomat Frank McCoy and served with the Lytton Commission investigating the Manchurian Incident of 1931. He also served in World War II in the North African campaigns and the European Theater of Operations (ETO) and was senior advisor to the Japanese Self-Defence Force, Korean Armistice Commission. He was the commanding general of the 1st Armored Division at Fort Hood (1953 to 1955); chief, Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG), Japan (1955 to 1957); commanding general, III Corps at Fort Hood (1958); and senior member, United Nations Military Assistance Command (UNC-MAC) in Korea (1959). Biddle retired from military service in 1960.
