Lawyer of Concord, Mass. Son of Joel Walcott. B. (1848) & d. (1901) in Concord. Graduated from Harvard 1870, then studied law at Harvard Law School & in office of Ebenezer Rockwood Hoar. In 1872, became partner in Boston firm of Buswell, Howe, & Walcott. Also opened law office in Concord. Walcott's legal work consisted largely of conveyancing. In 1886, appointed to newly established State Board of Arbitration. Served Concord through variety of offices, boards, & committees--Superintendent of Schools (1872), Assessor, Selectman, Overseer of the Poor, Library Committee member.

(Cont.) member of committees for 1875 celebration of centennial of Battle of Concord & for 1885 celebration of 250th anniversary of town's incorporation, etc. President of Middlesex Institution for Savings. Member of Concord Antiquarian Society, Social Circle in Concord, Shakespeare Club, Saturday Club, Tuesday Club. Curator of Concord Lyceum. Married twice: in 1875, to Florence Keyes (daughter of John Shepard & Martha Lawrence Prescott Keyes), who died in 1877 shortly after birth of 2nd son; in 1891, to Jessie McDermott, with whom he also had 2 children.

(Cont.) Walcott's Concord in the Colonial Period was published in 1884, his Sir Archibald Campbell of Inverneill in 1898.
