Maxwell was a soldier in Capt. Stark's company at the garrison at Detroit (Michigan Territory) during Pontiac's attempt to massacre the garrison, in Aug. 1763, known as "Bloody Run." Charles C. Trowbridge (1800-1883) held numeous political and other prominent positions in Michigan including: member of the Board of Regents at the University of Michigan, 1839-1842, first secretary of the same Board, Indian agent and interpreter at Green Bay and Detroit, president of the Bank of Michigan, 1824-1843; president and later secretary of the Michigan State Bank, 1844-1853; president of the Oakland & Ottawa Railroad Co. and the Detroit & Milwaukee Railroad Co.; Whig candidate for Governor, 1837; Alderman and Mayor of Detroit, 1834.
