Wisconsin. Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund.

The Wisconsin Patients Compensation Fund was created under Chapter 37, Laws of 1975, for the purpose of paying the portion of medical malpractice claims which exceed the limits set in s. 655.23 (5), Wisconsin Statutes. This mandatory health care liability risk sharing plan covers medical and osteopathic physicians, podiatrists, nurse anesthetists, hospitals and nursing homes. The Fund is managed by a board of governors and is administered by the Bureau of Funds in the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (WIHV85-A109). The Fund was renamed in s. 655.27.
