Born Wellesley Hills, Mass. 1931; son of Hildur Emelia (Dahl) and Harry Herbert Rawson Spofford; attended Wellesley Public Schools, Roxbury Latin School and Harvard (Class of 1954); served in U.S. Army Medical Service, as a ambulance driver in Korea from 1953 to 1955; received degree from Havard after service and began work at the Claim Department of the Prudential Insurance Company (Newark, N.J.); two years later, returned to Boston to work for the Clam Department of New England Mutual Life Insurance Company; retired 1996.
