Carlton S. Miller was born on May 7, 1924 in N.Y. and enlisted in the Army on August 11, 1943 at Provident, R.I. At the time of his enlistment, he was unmarried, and had completed four years of high school. Millers joined the 10th Mountain Division at Camp Hale, Colo. where he was assigned to Company B of the 85th Infantry Regiment. He also served at Camp Swift, Tex. before being sent to Italy. Miller was awarded the Silver Star for his actions near Mt. Gorgolesco on February 20, 1945, and was wounded in action near Mt. Della Spe on March 5, 1945.
