The Cleburne family can trace it's pedigree to 1184. The family originates from England, with a concentration in the north of England, just south of the Scottish border. There is also an Irish branch of the family extending from Ballicullatan, Ireland from at least 1684. Part of the family immigrated to North America prior to the United States' Revolutionary War. They settled in Virginia and Louisiana. Civil War Confederate Army Major General Patrick Ronayne Cleburne is a member of the family.
