Howard family.
Reverend Wm. Howard (1831-1862), was a traveling preacher in Oregon. His parents, Richard Rutter Howard (b. 1797) and his wife Cynthia, migrated to Oregon in 1846, settling a land claim in Clackamas County that established the community of Mulino. Howard built a sawmill two years later. In 1851 he founded one of Oregon's earliest flour mills, Howard's Grist Mill, on the banks of Milk Creek.
