A.E. Burkhardt Company.
Adam Edward Burkhardt, an immigrant from Bavaria, purchased a Cincinnati wholesale and retail firm in 1866 dealing in hats and furs. In May 1917, the A.E. Burkhardt Company was incorporated for the purpose of manufacturing, repairing and re-modeling furs and fur garments, storing furs, buying, selling and dealing in raw and dressed fur skins, etc. Adam E. Burkhardt died in November 1917, and his son, Webster B. Burkhardt, succeeded him as president. The company closed in 1964.
