Employment included the Chicago & Northwestern Railway; General Agent for the Kansas Pacific Railway; the Denver Rio Grande System; Denver & Northwestern Railway to extend the Moffat Railroad from Yarmony to Steamboat Springs; president of the Denver Steamship Construction Co; and owner of the Shirley Hotel and Shirley Farm.

David C. Dodge (1837-1918) was a businessman and a leader in the railway industry from Denver, Colorado. He worked as general manager of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad in 1880, and for the Rio Grande Western Railway from 1886 to 1901.
