Parker, Lovel Newton

Lovel Newton Parker was born in Wayne, Ohio in 1842. He left his farm in 1862 to join the 105th Regiment of Ohio Infantry, and served as sergeant of Company I. The three-year regiment was attached to the 33rd Brigade, Army of the Ohio, 1st Brigade, 5th Division Army of the Cumberland, and to 2nd Brigade, 14th Army Corps. It was mustered out in July, 1865. Parker fought in Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Carolinas, taking part in the battle of Perryville, Middle Tennessee Campaign, Chickamauga Campaign, Chattanooga-Ringgold Campaign, Atlanta Campaign, the March to the Sea, Siege of Savannah, and Campaign of the Carolinas. Following the Grand Review on May 24, the regiment was mustered out June 3, 1865. At the end of the war Parker returned to Wayne, and served as justice of the peace, assessor, and county surveyor. He was also active in the regimental veterans' association.
