Kuhner, David
Biography
David Kuhner received a BS from Ohio State University, an MEd from the University of Miami, and an MLS from the University of California at Berkeley. He was serving as Head of Readers' Services and Reference at the Jackson Library of Business, at Stanford University, when in 1967 he became Chief Science Librarian at the John Crear Library, in Chicago. In 1970, he was appointed Assistant Librarian for Science at Honnold Library, and in 1972 became first Librarian at the Norman F. Sprague Memorial Library. He retired in 1985.
Kuhner was particularly interested in the history of science. His principal published work on the subject was a collaboration with Tania Rizzo, The Herbert Clark Hoover Collection of Mining & Metallurgy - Bibliotheca de re metallica (Claremont, Calif.: Libraries of the Claremont Colleges, 1980).
